Our Approach
Partnerships
QUEST was born in 2004 out of a shared commitment to addressing the problems in the Indian education system. To achieve our mission, we work on the premise of shared responsibility and shared benefits. QUEST provides the seed funding and know-how to build partnerships. In turn, these partnerships create, pilot and institutionalize technology tools that improve education in all settings.
Targeting Our Resources
We began with three geographic regions – Mumbai, Hyderabad and Karnataka state. These areas demonstrate cost-effective technologies that are replicable and can be used long-term in poorer or more remote environments. All improve enrollment, retention and learning.
Building Links to Employment
To make sure youth have the skills, both life- and work-related, to compete for jobs, QUEST pilots other specialized educational technologies. These are geared toward vulnerable, out-of-school youth who have no formal vocational training programs and are unlikely to be reintegrated into the education system.
Promoting Policies for Long-Term Impact
To improve educational quality and relevance over the long-term, QUEST engages national and state governments in a policy dialogues. These efforts advocate a comprehensive educational technology policy and highlight issues critical to the success of these tools.
Aligning with India’s National Priorities
QUEST is committed to aligning its efforts with the Government of India’s education policy and priorities. This includes Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan (Education for All), in particular, and its distance learning system.
